iPod Syncing w/IPod & iPhone on iTunes

I have both an iPod, iPhone and iTunes. The music library holds around 20GB of music (all from my own ripped CDs) and each time I add new songs or make a new playlist, it updates on the iPod.

The iPhone is only 16GB, so according to the instructions, iTunes will make playlists for the iPhone if there's not enough storage space.

When I connected the iPhone I selected the playlists which I had already made, and they synced okay. What I can't seem to do, and I'm pretty sure I can do with the iPod, is select various artists or albums, for which there is room. So, in addition to the playlists, I might want all of The Who, and maybe just a few select songs from the Stones. Can I do that? If so, how? I can't seem to find that option.

Just make another playlist and add all those songs to it. You don’t have to ever listen to the playlist, but you can use it for syncing purposes.

You can manually to choose the songs to sync onto your iPhone… or create Playlists for it and don't sync those to the iPod.

Actually, I can't manually choose songs; which is the crux of my posting. Under iPhone and the music tab, I do not see a list/folder of all my songs. All I see are the playlists.

I guess making another playlist, as suggetsed by another poster, is an option. That would put them on the iPhone; although, in a round about manner.
