Hello,

How are you...

every time i open System Preferences for the first time after a reboot or shutdown I get a message saying:

"the preference pane you are installing is already installed. Do you want to replace the existing preference pane?" with two options 'Cancel' and 'Replace'

and it's been really bugging me but when i look it up I find nothing useful

here are some info that might be relevant/useful to the problem
1- Macbook Pro mid12
2- Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan
3- I have 3 third-party panes:
a- Adobe Flash
b- Java
c- NTFS for Mac OS X

thank you very much for your time and any help you might offer

Perhaps have a look to see if there are any preference panes located in these two locations which don't appear in System Preferences and that you don't want. If so, trash them.

~/Library/PreferencePanes

/Library/PreferencePanes

Else, remove all three preference panes you have and install them again.

sorry for responding so late
thank you so much for your help
my problem is solved-- at least for now (hopefully forever)
you deserve a report
what I found was a duplicate pane existing in both folders
deleted one of them the restarted the mac
and the problem is solved

thank you...
