Hi, very quick question.
There is a game on Steam I would like to get and its requirement is a 2.5GHz processor, but mine is a 2.4GHz, with 2.9GHz TurboBoost. So when looking at the requirements for games should I be using the turboboost speed instead of the normal speed?

Thanks in advance

what type of processor do they list? you need to compare more than just the Hz. Hz is not really a speed rating unless your comparing the same exact type of processor to another... for example a single core of a current i7 1.8GHz is actually faster than a single core Core 2 Duo at 2.6GHz

if you tell us the game, and your machine it would be easier for us to answer, most games recommend core2duo gen processors, and IF they recommend i7 it's 1st gen i7, so you should probably be ok

also Turbo boost isn't something you can control it's an automatic thing that will activate within certain temperature thresholds when 2 or more cores are idle it speeds up the remaining 1 or 2 cores

The game is The Binding of Isaac and I know my computer will handle it. I was just using it as an example for my question about if I should use the base speed of the processor or the TurboBoost speed when looking at system requirements for a game.

Also my specs are....
2010 MacBook Pro
Dual Core i5 2.4GHz
4GB of Ram
Nvidia 330m with 256GB

base speed... not turbo. Turbo only works sometimes, depending on whats going on and how many cores are disabled and how cool the machine is. On the heat of a Macbook Pro, when you game it basically never turbo boosts.

It should be fine that game has very light system requirements. It just say Intel 2.5Ghz. Being that your 2.4Ghz i5 dominates a 2.5Ghz Core 2 you'll be fine. It doesn't even list a video card requirement. So I guess even Intel GMA will do which you soundly beat.
