I have a 2019 MacBook pro running an intel 8-core CPU, 32GB of RAM, a TB SSD, and AMD Dedicated Graphics. For a little while now (perhaps since I downloaded Big Sur? Maybe before that even) I've been having some general system lag particularly when typing. I tried several different things including uninstalling applications, checking for viruses, clearing caches, updating software, and etc, and nothing helped. Today I disabled automatic graphics switching and the issue is now resolved, woo! Except the cure is almost as bad as the problem, since now my battery life is being killed by always running the dedicated graphics.

Is there an alternate solution here? Is this a known bug? Is it being addressed by apple in a future version?

It IS a known bug... people figure it out on day 1 of Big Sur's release, as well as this temporary solution. I've never turned auto-switching back on to see if it has been fixed in one of the Big Sur updates (to be honest, I forgot I even turned it off).

Well, spoiler alert, it still isn't fixed in the latest big sur release. Honestly not sure if apple is even aware about it.
