System updates before installing mountain lion

I'm on lion 10.7.4 and I see a few updates in system updates including the firmware update that enables Power nap .As I have a slow internet connection ,Do I really need to update before upgrading to ML ? aren't those updates included in ML already ?

Yes, the updates are included in Mountain Lion.

I'm not sure what updates you might be seeing if you are already on 10.7.4, but you will need the firmware update either way and it is not part of Mountain Lion.

From your description, the FW update is the only one I know you are going to want either with or without Mountain Lion. Also, you can install the FW after the ML install if you like. Either way is fine.

If were me, I would just install ML as you are now then DL all the updates afterward.
