hi all
running 10.11.1 ....and systemuiserver is currently using about 1.5gb of RAM....i can't remember. is that normal or hi for this process?

Mine is now using 12.6MB, so I'd say something is up with yours.

Do you run any of the following:

Istat menus
Dropbox
File transporter (connected data)
Synology cloud drive

I just trying to guess these are a few of the things running in my menu bar
My guess for my issue might be transporter or synology cloud drive (as it is a beta)

Only Dropbox from that list. What you might try is holding the shift key at boot to boot to safe mode. That stops all launch and startup items from running and would at least tell you if that is the issue.
