doubtful.

tmo hasnt refarmed 3g in our area (i read somewhere that they did but it must be a VERY small area), and no lte here yet. i was going to use our att iphone 5s, but all it got was edge.

Figures. Thanks for saving me the trouble of regretting a switch though

Got some 4G LTE around Palo Alto, CA. Up to 25mbps, quite impressive. I don't get LTE that much, but when I do, it's lightning fast. No LTE in San Francisco yet, but I see more and more 4G spots all around the city (I used to struggle half the day to get 3G, now I get 4G pretty much everywhere).

Anyone with a speedtest from Phoenix or Mesa Arizona?

Out in the west side of Phoenix I did a test on my cousin's iPhone 5 and got 30mbps down, and 8mbps up.

We were on I-10 where it seems like they have LTE for sure.

Here's at Seattle, WA (to be precise at Lynnwood when I bought the tmo iPhone 5). They did say our LTE will be out soon but 4G speeds are pretty good, satisfied so far.
Thanks! Those are fast speeds, even if its is only 4G. My plan to switch is looking really good.

Portland, OR all over the downtown area. there were couple of dead spots (or EDGE speed spots). looks alright.

Got mine today. No LTE here yet (Charlotte, NC) but 4G is everywhere and it will do for now.

Anyone in LA or The Valley? (Im In Northridge!)

Cant wait to make the switch!

I live out in Granada Hills! I would do a test for you but sadly I'm in Phoenix for at least another week. They have great 4g/LTE here though.

I'm on the $30 unlimited data/txt prepaid plan. The speed tests I took were from South Florida.(various locations in Pembroke Pines & Hollywood). Im using the ATT Iphone 5 (unlocked for $2). I get visual voicemail to my surprise. Goodbye ATT. lol.

Minneapolis, MN (south, near the airport)

fastest non-LTE T-Mobile speeds i've seen so far in this thread i think?

what do i win? :D

actually i'm pretty jealous of my wife... i'm stuck with AT&T until later next summer. though i've seen as high as 56 Mbps on LTE with them.

I work in Bloomington across from the airport, I think the coverage is bumped up to account for the airport passengers usage. I've seen crazy speeds of around 50 DL on AT&T's LTE network regularly over in the cell phone lot.

The highest I've seen on tmobile 4G was 34 mps on a nexus 4

I average roughly 6-8Mbps down and 1-3Mbps up on HSPA+ not on a call. When on a call it drops to below .5Mbps. I tried explaining this to AT&T and they couldn't grasp what I was saying. Basically telling me over and over again that I will not get LTE speeds while on a call. I told them multiple times I understand that, but I can't even get Edge speeds, let alone 3G or LTE!

Sounds like you talked to a bunch of useless reps.
I get frustrated too when I know more than they do and I don't even work for their company.
Its pretty crappy how AT&T is doing this throttling while on a call.
Basically you get slowed down to unusable speeds. I don't see the logic behind.

And for those of you guys on Tmobile Im very happy with the speeds that Im seeing.
It might be something I will look into in the future. Glad competition is tightening up:)

I'm actually very surprised to see how widespread LTE is in west houston considering it just launched a few weeks ago. Very few times today have I seen the 4G symbol instead of at least 2 bars of LTE.

Confused

On Saturday I bought two TMo iPhone 5 handsets from a local TMo store. I've never seen any indicator at the top of the screen for me to infer whether I am on a GSM, UMTS or 'something else' type of network.

These are unlocked phones (I think, but I'm not a handset guy). Anyone got any idea? Also, I suppose unless I hard shut off wi-fi connectivity the sppedtest.net app might not be using cellular data.

this one is based on the T-Mobile tower at Wenonah School actually... there is another T-Mobile tower at the airport far as i can tell.
