I just bought a refurbed 8 gig for my room mate. She's using T-Mobile and I was wondering what I need to do in order to make the phone usable. It'll be a surprise for her when she gets home so I don't have her SIM and she isn't on a data plan yet.

I already unlocked and jailbroke using ZiPhone. What's next? I know this is a popular topic but all the other guides and threads go too far in depth. It would be appreciated if I wasn't told to search. Thanks!

Get a plan, get a SIM, pop it in.

Works straight away with Centennial, so T-Mobile should be exactly the same.

Oh, and... tell them to disable data to and from the SIM if you don't want to pay for a data plan, otherwise you'll rack it up whenever you hit virtually any app outside Wi-Fi range.

You won't rack up charges if you don't have a data plan. I didn't have a plan but left EDGE on, I couldn't receive or send data thus no extra charges. (I now have the T-Zones data plan though)

$5.99 per month, pratically unlimited data. Beats the unlimited $19.99 per month!
T-Mobile doesn't interrogate you. I called up, requested to add the T-Zones plan, they added it with no questions asked. Just told me to wait 1-2 hours before it goes into effect.

ok. im with tmobile. i have the sidekick data plan. if i get the iphone and unlock it, will i be able to get all the benefits that the iphone offers. or will i have to get extra things with my tmobile plan?

I have the Blackberry internet plan and everything works just fine with tmobile,so i assume you will be ok
