I read some people get 6.1.2 while others get 6.1.3. Looks like they started production of these phones before 6.1.3 came out :p

Ok cool. I'm going to go buy it in the store in a few hours.

I'm hoping they'll let me turn it on in the store and check, but if not, I can always return it.

It's hit or miss. I went to a TMO store near my work and just had 6.1.3. I then stopped by one on my way home from work and they had 6.1.2.

It has been reported that black iPhone 5s are coming with iOS 6.1.3 and the white iPhone 5s are coming with iOS 6.1.2. I guess go White then lol.

I bought myself a iPhone 5 Black at my local Tmo store yesterday and the iOS is version 6.1.3. No biggie since I only JB my iDevices to get themes and a few tweaks like resized the icons.

I am still a happy camper because I can finally receiving 4G speeds now versus EDGE on my iPhone 3GS. So far, 4G is stable and I'm loving it.

So I went to an Apple Store and bought a black 32GB iPhone 5 with 6.1.2 and jailbroked it as soon as I got home. :-D

The T-Mobile employees don't have a problem opening the boxes just to check the version numbers?

All of the iPhones my store has received have come loaded with 6.1.2 on them. They update to 6.1.3 when we plug it into our iTunes (very limited version) to update the carrier settings and enable LTE. If you don't plug it in and avoid the OTA update, it'll still be on 6.1.2.

I bought mine from my store and never did the update so I could JB it. I'll get the prompt to update every time I plug my phone into one of my Macs and sometimes get the OTA message when I go into settings.

But to answer your question, no.. we're not going to open the box up to check the version for something before they buy it. Sounds like we're being selfish or what not but most of our customers know what the phone looks like brand new (in the plastic) and if we brought one out and said "oh, a customer just wanted to check the software version on it" I'm pretty sure they would ask for another one. You could pay the $50 restocking fee to find out though. ;)
