T-Mobile on iPhone 3G or 3GS.

Ok so I currently have an iPod touch. Well I'm tired of not having mobile web to go and carry and **** phone and an iPod everywhere. So recently Ive been reading up on how to unlock the iPhone 3G to use any GSM carrier. I don't care if I'm stuck on EDGE all day long, if you ask me EDGE is pretty damn fast over standard GSM. So my question is how do I go about setting this up? This is what ive gotten in my head so far

-Unlock iPhone 3G
-Get that $9.99 Web2Go EDGE (Which I need a link too, cant find it on the T-mobile site all I find is expensive 39.99 packages)
-Profit
I do have allot of experience with messing with custom firmware just not quite with apple products (I did allot of firmware work on the Sony PSP) so I'm not to concerned about my ability to actually jailbreak or unlock the phone I just need to have the info readily available
-Now I havent purchased the phone yet but I would like to have the info in a thread ready if I do.

Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks.

Yep, sounds good. My brother has my old 3G iPhone and he accidentally updated and undid the jailbreak and unlock for T-Mobile yesterday, so he went to the mall and stood in line to get it done by some vendor in a cellphone store and it took him 30 minutes in line and about 10 minutes in the store for the JB & UL; cost him $20 bucks in small bills.....:cool:

Ok thanks. But where would I go about finding $9.99 web2go EDGE?

It should be online, if not, you can call T-Mobile and they can add it on for you. That is how I set up my iPhone on T-Mobile, I told them I wanted that plan, and they said it probably wouldn't work (I knew it would) and I insisted anyway, so they added it on, and I have had the $6.99 internet forever. :)

Wow ok thanks. So I just need to get one of those free phones from T-Mobile and then mess around with the plans online or over the phone?

$6.99 a month for data? Wow. How much do you pay total a month? Trying to keep this as cheap as possible.
 
unlocking 3G

if u r using windows, go to;http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=4302
http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=4304 if using mac;--either of these will do it easily...
How ever they work on the 2G phone only (1st generation)

if you have 3g/3gs use;
http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=4520 and read, read, read over again before JBing and Unlocking. u will have to decide whether to use ultrasn0w, purplesn0w, or redsn0w

if you messup just go to iTunes and restore factory setting, then try again.

I upgrade my 2g 2.1.0 to 3.01 in iTunes and used redsn0w without any issue, two months ago. BTW Im on t-mobile Total Internet for $5.99/month, no 3G support on t-mobile but edge works just fine.

Wait how much do you pay total with internet, voice and messenger? Thanks for the advice though.

I have the iphone as an addon phone to the main account, that increased my monthly bill by $10 for the addon and $5 for the total internet,,, so carrying the iphone on t-mobile as an addon to primary account is on $15 extra a month,,,, totally beats ATT:):):)

$14.99/mo Unlimited Messages
$ 5.99/mo T-MobileWeb

$50.97 total, which comes to about $59-60 a month with taxes.

That's HALF of what I paid monthly with AT&T, and when I call customer service I get someone that speaks English.

Wow that's dirt cheap compared to AT&T... I've heard since T-Mobile only uses the 1900mhz in the US coverage is spotty indoors, is this true? Additionally can you use wifi to make calls?
