T-Mobile phones have better battery Life?

Laptop Magazine tests seem to show Android smartphones on T-Mobile seem to have better battery life than the same phones on Verizon and AT&T.

New results are in examining battery life for some leading smartphones across carriers and T-Mobile continues to demonstrate superiority compared to Verizon, Sprint and AT&T. Some of the results are quite impressive for T-Mobile and overall paint a widely divergent picture when it comes to battery life. For instance, the Samsung Galaxy S 5 was able to go 10 hours 57 minutes on the T-Mobile network while lasting only 7 hours 30 minutes on Verizon. Similarly, the HTC One (M8) was able to go 10 hours 50 minutes on T-Mobile, but only 8 hours 42 minutes on AT&T.

I think they are discounting the whole less bloat thing in the article too much. As an ATT user, I would buy my phone from tmobile if I was going to buy a carrier phone. Unlockable boot loader and less crap, carrier iq can be disabled, along with wifi calling if I ever choose to make the switch to tmobile.

On reddit they were saying that Verizon was the lowest because of CDMA radio use that apparently is more battery intensive than sprint, and of course gsm that lacks CDMA radio capacity

T-Mobile implements fast dormancy (disengages the battery draining UMTS network connection and uses fast reconnect when you turn the phone back on or engage radio/modem for internet/app) for HSPA+ and LTE while AT&T and Verizon keeps connections active even when you're not using the phone. Result equates to more battery drain, especially if you are changing towers quickly (like in a car) or in a low signal area. Takes more juice to maintain that connection.

True in many places in the US unfortunately. I live in a very rural town in California and get upwards of 30megs a second download and 15 upload, but I'm currently in rural Michigan and I can't even get Edge in many parts of this town! It is a friggin black hole for T-Mobile.

Feast or famine when it comes to T-Mobile. It really sucks that I can't even make a call via cell. Probably why T-Mobile has WiFi calling on their phones.

Yeah. Tmobile better in bigger cities. Heck. Their hspa+ is very fast and just as fast as LTE in many parts of the country.

But they seem to still have huge gaps in service. If tmobile works for you 90% of the time than it's worth it.
