Spoke with my ups delivery guy today and learned something interesting.. He told me that the local t-mobile (rock hill sc) was delivered a shipment of ipads 10 to be exact. He didn't know if it was 3G or wifi only models but it is very interesting that they have already taken shipment has anyone else heard anything about tmobile and ipads?

Does TMO have a mifi type device? If so they could be selling it to sell with that.

I don't doubt that EVERY company that offers cell phone data plans is experimenting to see if they can sell iPad owners a buy-as-you-go data plan from their service. I doubt they were 3G models this early, but a after seeing the teardown it looks like any good engineer should be able to hack his own 3G/4G.

I doubt the Rock Hill, SC T-Mobile store is ripping devices apart to do research, but who knows.

I suspect T-Mo employees ordered iPads for themselves, or a misunderstanding by the UPS guy, or some combination of the two.

it's also possible that they plan on using the iPads as part of a POS in some other manner. Maybe load up videos or promotions and run them as interactive displays in the stores... who knows

It's possible that they are going to try a new in front of the counter sales pitch walking wround the store with the iPad pulling peoples account and ringing them out. It's actually a smart idea and makes for a more 1 on 1 buying experience rather than being divided by a counter.

im at the apple store writing this and over heard an employee telling a customer that the ipad 3g will be available thru att and tmobile.... dont know how true that is but thats what he told the customer.

If it was going to be supported on the t-mobile network - wouldn't it support the 1700mhz spectrum?

T-Mobile can "support it" even without that crazy 1700 MHz spectrum if they want to...

...on EDGE and GPRS connections only.
