I have a 8gb unlocked iPhone on the T-Mobile network. Its been working great with everything until today. I've noticed that it keeps dropping signal and will say No Service all the time. I've compared it to my GF's 4gb iPhone on T-Mobile side by side and hers will always have better reception and at times have reception when I have none. I've restored the phone back to factory specs with the same issues. Oh yeah, its running firmware 1.0.2. Has anyone had this problem with their phone?

Exact same problem as you. The thing is the uk network was having problems this weekend, but most are sorted now. But my iphone is really weak. My mate at the phone shop said give it a few days and it should be ok. But to be honest reception hasnt been that good since I got it

After countless hours of research, I've found that on the actual Apple support forums, there were users having the same problem! Its a bad transmitter in the phone. This causing your phone to lose signal/weak. Fortunately for me, my brother has an iPhone on ATT so we put his SIM card in there and I restored my phone. After this had happened, I got waiting for ATT activation with No Service. We ended up taking it into Apple and they exchanged it for me! They questioned the unlock but we just said no and that we didnt know anything about it. I now have an 8gb 1.1.1 iPhone that has now been unlocked with AnySim.
That's interesting. I've got an 8gb that's always dropped signal from time to time. It is annoying. I wonder if I can get apple to replace it for me.
I should mention I do have a dent in the back of the phone. So hopefully they wouldn't accuse me of damaging it by dropping it.
You could try. The issue I was having was it would have like 1 bar of signal strength and then say no service. I would hold it up to the same identical phone on the same network and that one would read 5 bars. Is your phone unlocked? If so, youre gonna need to know someone with an ATT iPhone so you can borrow their SIM.

Mine's not quite like that. I just often lose signal completely, sometimes even while on a call. Sometimes it comes back within 5 seconds, sometimes it takes a restart to regain signal. It really drives me crazy. I may go to an apple store later today and ask them about it. But first I'll have to do a restore, because although I have not unlocked the phone, I have hacked it and am using SummerBoard, so it would be pretty obvious to them.
