iOS Tab Bar Greyed Out (Custom Images)

I ran into this issue with the Tab Bar being greyed out in Xcode 6. I found a solution online but it seems like it only works using the default system images.


Anyone know a solution to this problem?

It looks like you may be setting the Tab Bar Item Image which is the selected state and you need to set the Bar Image instead. In this case in IB its the second Bar Item in the inspector. I got the same blank square when I only specified the selected image.
