Hand Drawn then scanned into photoshop and drawn over.
I am no artist by any means, but at my uni we had to do creative image production for a module and this was one of the things we had to hand in, a self portrait done in photoshop.
I used a Wacom a5 graphire tablet (i think thats what there called)

i always try to draw people and end up with odd looking ones. i think his (right) face is somewhat acceptable, but hers just seems strange.
proportions are always off, ...

/edit: i invested some 20mins more into this and now the paragraph above doesn't fit exactly, i updated the image.

anyway, i drew this on the nintendo ds, as i don't have a tablet.

btw: good topic, i always like seeing the artistic abilities of others. that way i can keep my 'omg i'm so bad at this' attitude.

have a nice day.

Not sure if this counts - drawn freehand on a tablet, in Illustrator - taken from a photo of a friend which i did as an 18th birthday present...

Here's one of my favs. I liked the sketchy, messy look with my beloved ink pen.

I drew this out on the ole Bamboo about five minutes ago just as a random test. God I hope the Mac Pro redesign doesn't look like this. :D

I've done quite a few tablet drawings, none of them very recent though...

This one was a couple months ago, in openCanvas:

On a DS? How'd you pull that off? Definitely looks better than what Pictochat can do!

They are completely different programs. A line drawn in Photoshop is just like a line drawn on paper, you've put pigment onto a surface. A line drawn in Illustrator is actually a mathematical approximation of the path taken by your pen, and is never exact. You can get much cleaner drawings using Illustrator because it uses vectors, but getting the same kind of detail that you could get out of photoshop takes a million times more effort.

These are some of my first completely tablet-drawn works.

the mutant fish:

I still have a lot of work to do to make my tablet drawings look like the real ones, but I'm getting there.
