I've been taking a computer graphics class that uses Macs; we just started using Corel Painter, unfortunately, the tablets do not work.

Painter 7, Wacom Intuos 2
Some version of Mac OS, not sure of the specifics
The tablets can be used to click, move things in the program. When drawing, however, nothing shows on the canvas. The Edit menu does give you the option to undo the brush stroke, however.

Tablets work in other programs such as Photoshop, this is the first problem I've had with them.

Teacher tried installing a new version of the tablet driver, it did not solve the problem. The tablets did work with Painter last year, but either an operating system upgrade or a new operating system was installed over the summer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Trash the Wacom tablet preferences and reboot. If that does not help try updating the Wacom tablet driver and make sure you have the Painter 7 update installed.

wacom

I don't have painter so I'm not for certain what the issue is, but Wacom does set up it's own dialogue in system preferences, you could look at some settings there too.

You say the tablets work fine in Photoshop with pen pressure and all? If that's the case, I would turn my attention to Painter. Or just forget Painter altogether... but I guess it's for a class...
