tablet users: pen mode or mouse mode?

as the title says, do you use the tablet in "pen mode" or "mouse mode"?

i use mouse mode at the moment, but most people seem to use it in pen mode - i am starting to wonder if i missing something.

Pen Mode, FTW!

Seriously though, Pen Mode is the only mode I use. That way I can move around the canvas however I want without having to worry about running off the edge in the middle of a stroke.

Whats the point of using mouse mode for anything but the mouse?

I use pen mode, as it is more akine to drawing for me. I also tend to jump around in my artwork and the pen mode allows for this a little easier.

Plus with my wacom Cintiq mouse mode would be a waste.

Resurrecting this thread to ask a question. I have been using Wacom tablets for over 20 years with the Wacom Mouse in Pen Mode mapped to (3) 27" monitors. Wacom has decided to discontinue mouse support, so I will not be able to use Wacom moving forward as a pen is just too awkward to do most of the chores I do on a daily basis (I only use the Wacom Pens in Photoshop when drawing).

So, I am having to transition to a more traditional "mouse". My question is, "Is there some type of software (or is it built into the Mac OS), a way to map absolute points on my desk to a virtual desktop spanning all 3 monitors I have"? In other words, is there a way to make a regular mouse "map" to my 3 monitors combined the same way the Wacom software allows me to use their mouse in Pen Mode??? Using the Wacom mouse on their tablet in Mouse Mode is useless - I need to be able to slide the mouse to a designated upper left point on my desk and the cursor move immediately to the upper left corner of my left monitor WITHOUT PICKING THE MOUSE UP OFF THE DESK".

Surely there is a way to do this without Wacom software as so many people use multiple monitors?

Not necessarily what you're looking for in a solution, however, I've adapted to my new peripheral/software setup. I've used two input devices simultaneously for about 15 years but still miss the Wacom mouse...

I use an Apple Magic Trackpad 2 with my left hand (I'm right-handed in general) and my Intuos Pro Medium with my right hand; I use the Trackpad with either hand when the tablet is not being used. My two software utilities are Spectacle (shareware) and SwitchResX. I use Spectacle to move (or "throw") Finder and application windows between displays (two 27-inch displays plus my 15-inch rMBP) and/or resize Windows on the fly. I use SwitchResX solely for saving Desktop workspaces - different resolutions and positions (landscape or portrait) for my graphic work or word processing.

The larger new Trackpad suits me well, and I use it alongside my tablet while in AutoCAD or PS. The Trackpad is set to map the full range of displays - I rarely use Mouse Mode, and IMHO Spectacle makes that much easier to work with. That's all I've got...
