Tabula Rasa is an MMORPG with a Sci Fi twist. It is sadly only for PC's but i am running it on my MBP 2.3 ghz boot camp and am getting 40 fps after i take off defered lighting.

Its pretty fun though, its a mix of wow, and sci fi shoot em up, and star ship troopers.

If anyone is interested in space and wants a break from WoW this is actually quiet refreshing.

will this game possibly run on a Macbook 2 ghz 4 gigs? (yeah i know 4 gigs..., it was actually a better deal to get 4 gigs rather then 2)

I don't think i would try it with the graphics card that is in there. Its a pretty graphic intensive game.

Wow, this website is like a bastion of video game nerd snobbery and that yahtzee seems like a total ******

He rips on every game he reviews (except Portal). Its called humor. His reviews are incredibly popular among gamers.

Not in beta...

... the beta ended in early November 07, it is for sale now. Monthly fee is $15.

It's somewhat like Starship Troopers (altho as a Heinlein fan, I avoided the movie). Things to like: PVP is restricted (no ganking); guns and shooting are much more FPS-like. Very clean user interface (confusing at times). Not so good: Crafting and economics. All the guns and uniforms look about the same. In the beta, there was no auction house. Getting a group together seems unnecessarily difficult.

I participated in the beta, had a lot of fun, but decided not to buy the game. If it'd been $10 a month, I might have bitten. But where'd this $15 get written in stone, anyway?

I've been playing Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion. I hope, in V, they let us move the furniture. That coffee table in the entrance to Benirus Manor drives me nuts.

Is this game still good? I played it in the first month but left cause of lag and glitches (I had an old Dell at the time). I'm thinking about installing this via Crossover Games and playing again. Anyone still playing?

A friend of mine went to E3 earlier this summer. At the Tabula Rasa booth they were begging people to play the game. They were practically dragging them into the booth to play it. He was willing to be impartial, but they kept up being so annoying he couldn't. As far as the game goes, he found the headsets people were using more interesting than the game...

Yeah, it's almost dead.

Thats a shame. It really was an incredible game and very unique in the modern mmo-scape of WoW clones and bugfests like AoC. Plus its scifi. I think I'll try it again anyway. I'll let yall know if it truly is ghost town or not.

I'm keeping my hopes for Stargate Worlds. It may be a decent scifi MMO.

WAIT. WAIT. WHAT? Stargate MMO? This is COMING?

I cant tell you how excited I am. My favorite thing in the world is stargate. Are you sure this isn't vaporware like the 10 other stargate mmos and fps games that were coming out and died half way through?

Making a new thread would have been better than playing the thread necromancer part.

Also, lol at the WoWGold ad in macrumors, isn't that illegal?

Given the backing they have, I don't think it will vapor-ware itself into the ground like the others did.

As side note on the original topic: Tabula Rasa's special edition is now like $10 at BestBuy, so have fun with that. I'll stick to WoW personally...

Stargate Worlds doesn't look very vapor to me. http://www.stargateworlds.com/

I watched a combat demo video somewhere recently (Gamespot maybe?). The AI opponents actually look intelligent. You HAVE to use cover as it is necessary for your character's survival in combat. You have health and focus stats, too. Health is obvious. Focus determines how capable you are during combat - aiming and such are affected by it. The AI is smart about cover, and the demo I saw showed the AI would do things like move into your cover if it could and deny it to you if you were forced out of it. It has terrain features that are made just to provide cover, too (bunkers and such).

I'd say it is looking pretty good so far. We won't really know until the game is released and gets people playing it.

Tabula Rasa was fun for the first week until you realized the game had no content at all and boring/repetitive gameplay.
