A few years ago I made an audio player app called Tactus, designed specifically to deal with how crappy it was to use my phone to play music in the car. The app achieves this by using only gestures to control playback and other functions instead of small buttons.

My main goals were:
  • Ease of use weather I had the phone mounted or laying somewhere (to the point that it could be used without looking at the screen)
  • Minimizing distractions
After making the app starting with iOS4 support on through iOS8, work took too much time and I dropped the project. But then I bought a Fit a year ago, and it had a glaring omissions on it's audio control thing - I couldn't pause unless I was using bluetooth.

So a few months ago I started re-programming the app from scratch in Swift, and Apple has finally added a way to have beta tests.

I have made a page that outlines some features, design decisions, and the kinds of input I would really like to get.

If you would be interested in helping out, please PM me an email address (and a name if you want). TestFlight (Apple's beta service) will email you with instructions on how to proceed once I add you. All active participants will get a code for the app once released!

Thanks!
