Do we still have to downgrade iTunes with the latest version of TaiG? I've had ZERO luck with the downgrades no matter what instruction I've followed..... All this because I'm on Windows 8.1 and certain iTunes versions don't play nice when I'm trying to downgrade.

I'm another 8.1 user. Bit the bullet and fresh restored 8.3. iCloud restoring right now. Ready to try JB since initial bugs ironed out.
Even though I was on 8.1.2, I was able to simply upgrade my already jailbroken phones and iPad to 8.3 and then jailbreak again. I didn't have to worry about restoring anything. Because of this, Cydia retained my sources.

So I'm on 8.1.2 JB and I want to use 8.3 stock for awhile then eventuallyjailbreak again.

What's the best way to upgrade? Download the ispw and shift click upgrade in iTunes? Or restore from iTunes then restore my backup? Which is better? Or are they the same?

My phone was already jailbroken on 8.1.2 and I just upgraded to 8.3 and then ran Taig. Didn't have to worry about restoring and it was fast.

So just download 8.3 ispw and update and then I don't have to restore and monkey around with that and my sources will still be there after I rejailbreak eventually?

No. You will have to reinstall everything.

Cool I have all those backed up already. Thanks!

So just update from iTunes and I can use 8.3 stock for awhile then eventually rejailbreak and I should have my sources and the p.list settings data from all my previous tweaks.

One more thing.. Does the 2.1.2 TaiG jailbreak just work now for sure without having to mess around with downgrading iTunes or installing the deb file?

Was your phone constantly rebooting too? That's what is happening to me.

FIXED!

Tried it on a new computer and it installed right away without a reboot. Something with this first computer didn't like the cache that was stored on the phone. The second computer picked up where the first one left off. Just an fyi to those who have the same problem.

Lucky you! I tried it on a 2nd computer and I'm having the same issue (phone just keeps rebooting but the jb doesn't succeed). Not really sure what to do at this point.

Hmm looks like 2.1.2 still isn't quite the cats meow yet. I think I'll hold on to my 8.1.2 for a little longer..

Really glad my iPhone 6+ came with 8.1.2. It's now my primary phone and I jailbroke it the day I got it.

Having zero luck using iTunes (12.01 and/or the latest version) and Taig 2.1.2 on my iPhone 5 running iOS 8.3. Keeps stopping at 30% and failing.

Of course I may have some special circumstances such as a 32bit Win7 machine and my SIM is not active.

I'd really not be happy right now though if I was still on my iPhone 5. :(

Running the test of parallels and windows 10 preview and not sure what itunes has to do with the install.
Redmond Pie runs through the install and there's no mention of Itunes.
http://www.redmondpie.com/how-to-jailbreak-ios-8.3-8.2-8.1.3-with-taig-2.0-tutorial/

Got stuck at 20% and looping to finally failure.

Also, neither the 12.0.1 iTunes nor current version will install. Keep getting this stupid message:
Could not access network location \\psf\Home\Desktop\

So after a failure of iTunes to install and Taig 2.1.2 failing at 20% what do you do?

This is a pain in the ass.

Taig is all fine and dandy, but what the f... is with

'This program cannot be run inside a virtual machine'

nonsense on this version? not cool.

Anyway, it worked just fine on first try... in a windows 7 VM none the less :p

Now there's an Apple file message. Says to get an Apple tool. Click around and good luck - it's all in Chinese. LOL
