Hi,

I'm pretty happy on my jailbreak currently, but really only use it for no ads on pandora and tethering in an emergency.

The problem is my battery is pretty inconsistent. I'm noticing the phone is dying with anywhere from 2-7% left. I let it full charge and same thing the next day. Another issue I'm having is the power button has become janky as well. You have to hit it just right for it to work.

I have 2 months left on the warranty and really am considering if this is a big deal or not. I don't want to lose my jb, but I'm also curious to try 7.0. But also I don't want the battery to continue to degrade. Although not terrible, I use to ride this phone for like 10 mins on 1% before it died.

Thoughts?

You can use iLEX RAT to restore to a just jailbroken state. Don't use your backup but manually put everything back, that might solve your battery problem.

If that doesn't work you can always bring it to the Genius Bar fo a replacement.

The iOS7 JB won't be out for some time.

Turn off the % it's not an accurate gauge by any means as lots of factors can effect battery life.

That may be true, but I've had an iPhone 4 and this iPhone 5, and both have always gone from 100-1. Dropping dead at 7% has never happened. While it doesn't necessarily 'bother' me, I'm concerned that in 6 mos this battery is going to be dropping dead at 30%

It happened to a friend of mine, she returned it and never had problems since.

I love my jailbreak, but I would return it to be honest. Jailbreak for iOs7 will come anyway, so you just need to wait a bit, not a biggie.

Exactly.
Just because it shuts off at between 2-7% doesn't mean anything.
Mine turns off at 10% sometimes. My battery is fine.
You cant go by that percentage indicator that much. Its very inconsistent.
It might drop fast in one minute and stay at a certain number for a long time.
I don't think its a reason to waste time at a genius appointment.

Ended up returning and the new/refurbished phone is tight, tight, tight. Makes you realize how these iPhones aren't really built to last. My iPhone 4 needed the home button replaced 3x.

And apple juiced, I don't spend a ton of time here, but I would consider you a very helpful reputable member. But I would definitely consider a battery dying at 10% to be ****ed up. Agree the % isn't always accurate but it's always gotten to 1% for my past 2 iPhones. I did lose my jailbreak but was fortunate enough to get one 6.1.4 so hopefully the jb is around the corner

My 3GS is still working great, same w/ the 4S and now the 5S. Anything that you abuse will get damaged. I also see peers that have a bad home button and find that is because they used some type of cover like an Otterbox on their phone.

I don't know, I think it has to do more with battery calibration than a dying/faulty battery.
If sometimes it shuts off at 11% and others goes all the way down to 1%.
That indicator is off most of the time and its good once in a while to let it completely drain and then fully charge right after.
