I wasn't wanting to upgrade to Yosemite but have had to as I need RAW support for my Nikon D750 and I still can't get it on Mountain Lion. After my initial hatred towards the cartoon styling I have to say I don't actually mind it that much now. There's still a couple of irks though.

Firstly, my desktop is a studio shot with a white background and so text under folders etc on the desktop don't show up very well, is there a way to change font colour? Likewise with the dock, it doesn't show up that well, is there a way to make it stand out more?

Finally I find the folder colour very garish, it's actually quite hideous. I've found a blog that tells you how to change the colour without an app or 'hacking' the system, but you can only do one folder at a time and I'm not willing to do that for every folder. Is there another way. If anyone's interested here's the link

Any help appreciated :)

Natively, you can not change any font colour in OS X (not sure of any 3rd party methods).
--
You can change the colour of the dock and menu bar from white frost to a darker colour by doing the following:
  1. Go into System Preferences
  2. General
  3. Use dark menu bar and Dock (check)
--
Other than the method listed on that website, and the "one-by-one" method you suggested, I don't know of any other way to change the colour of the folders. I never disliked the colour, but if you give it time you could probably get used to the colour :p

Thanks, that's useful re the dock colour. Shame you can't just change this without the top bar too ;)
