Taking Calls Through Car Speakers

Hey Guys,
I have an Alpine deck and am able to play music through my speakers, however when I get a call it will only go though the iPhone speakers. Is there any hack to enable calls to go though the car speakers? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. thanks

Actually your wrong I do it in my car everyday. Now to answer your question I have not had to do any hack or anything of the sort. It just worked for me. I have the cheapest insignia cd player that had a aux port on the faceplate. The only problem is I still have to hold my phone close to my head cause when I turn on speaker I can hear it twice.

Does your iPhone plug into the deck with the dock connector or the headphone jack? It should work with both.

I can take calls and listen to Pandora radio through the dock connector in my Scion with the deck that came with it. No hacks necessary.

It works through the dock connector not aux.

I have a kenwood stereo with an auxillary port. A couple years ago I put in a monster cable and for it so I could use my ipod in my car. I would just plug the cable into the headphone jack.
Anyway, I hooked it up to my iphone the same way and low and behold, I can hear call through my speakers. I just keep the phone on my lap and talk normal and they can here me fine also. I don't have to turn on the speaker phone or anything.
I was going to buy a bluetooth also, but now I feel no need to.

Actually im not wrong. You gave the exact reason of why it does not work very well. Holding the phone near your head defeats the purpose.

using a bluetooth audio adapter this should work just fine, a2dp protocol will not work but headset protocol WILL work if wired with your amplifier ( or audio deck ) and wiring a microphone somewhere in the car, or by simply using one of those external bluetooth speakerphone products...

Using a 4 pin headphone jack you could hook up your phone to the AUX input on your amp/receiver and use the 4th pin to wire up a microphone up by your visor, this will take some wiring/soldering experience and some small fabrication but would be a great project.

What I would like to know is if it's possible for the iPhone to auto-answer incoming calls after a set number of rings? I connect mine to an old old car stereo through an aux lead at the back of the stereo and it works brilliantly. Would just like to answer calls without needing to hold the phone (which is illegal in the UK)
