Taking My iPad to Tonights Dodger Game?

Well tonight at dodger stadium is not a dodgers game but rather there is some event with that church guy Joel Osteen. I hear its sold out which is crazy but I got a free ticket and figured I'd go for the hell of it.

Thinking about taking my iPad though I'm sure id get a lot of lookie loos throughout the event. And this is not a dodgers game where I can just whip out my iPad and surf the web so am wondering if it'll even be a good idea in the first place.

But I'm sure if I did take it I'd be suer comfortable Playing some gamez and opening some apps in the middle of a sold out stadium...but it is a service event, kinda like his tv show where he just preaching for like an hour or two.
 
You're gonna get so many comments and questions. People are kinda stunned when they first see an iPad. The day after it came out (Easter), I went to Yoshinoya and I was holding it (no case). There was a group of teenagers near me. The were all saying to each other, "Look, it's the iPad. Wow, look."
Be ready for that kind of stuff. It's a little embarrassing.:eek:

Hmm, damn. My only thing is I don't want people asking if they can play with it. Of course I can just say no but with it being a Joel Osteen religious event I fear they might condemn me to hell.

I'm not really religious and though I believe i'll find the event tonight at Dodgers stadium entertaining; I want to chill during the service, engaged both with the event and entertained with an app or two. Hell, I may even type up my essay for Anthropology during. :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I'm not religious at all; my cousin however (who is religious) could not attend the event so threw a ticket my way; personally I'm agnostic but I do find Joel Osteen and the way he carries himself very entertaining and at time uplifting. I've seen a few episodes through Podcasts and enjoy them so am somewhat excited to be attending tonight. Though I don't want to be subjected to be sitting down for 2 1/2 hours talking about God while I can be typing an essay on Pages or playing N.O.V.A. or something; hell, I may just read "The God Delision" by Richard Dawkins during the event.

Kidding, sorry I don't mean to offend anyone reading this thread; though I may side with Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens on many, if not all viewpoints, I do find Joel Osteen interesting....though in no way will I be like some of those people there tonight that sigh a heavily "Amen!" after every sentence Osteen speaks.

My dad went to a mets game the day after the ipad came out. The guy next to him had a iPad and let my dad play with it. Any way I don't think anything would happen

I mean, it is at Dodgers stadium though it is not a baseball game...but it being at a stadium, though this is a religious event still feel it will have the stadium environment feel to it...so thats why.

There's no way i'd take my iPad to sunday church...but to a joel osteen religious event...at a baseball stadium...hell yeah.

Screw it, i'll take some photos when i get there and i'm chilling with the iPad.

I don't think Joel Osteen is a nut at all, I totally dig his sermons and think he's got his heart in the right place. He's not bombastic at all. He seems like a good guy.

I wish I had your ticket. Enjoy. :)

I am not Religious and I got dragged along to a Benny Hinn stadium show down south England, I am not sure how similar they are. But if you are not religious it is INCREDIBLY uncomfortable to be there.

Also you will get some DIRTY looks if you play with an Ipad during his show. these people who go there are keen religious fantatics they will not like seeing someone who looks like they don't even want to be there sitting there playing with their Ipad.

And You will find religious people who go to these stadium shows are just as rowdy and rude if not moreso then other people.

My advise is you should not even be going if you are not religious. I only went because I was pretty much forced.
 
They are not even in the same realm mate. Mr. Hinn is a known fraud although that doesn't stop some from following him.

Very different people. I find it absurd to call everyone who will attend a "fanatic". Mr.Osteen has a crossover audience clearly because the OP finds him interesting enough to want to attend.

Don't lump people together because they are religious. :rolleyes:

From what I am finding Joel Osteen has just as much of these 'Fraud' rumours and fakeness about him as Benny Hinn.

:rolleyes: so does everyone in religious TV field. I take something from a lot of Osteens sermons but i'm no rabid follower. I find him to be a bit too repetitive but overall, he's got good themes. His positive attitude has helped me in the past.

I'm curious to know what the OP's experience was
 
willingly wanting to use/showoff ipad in a stadium of people who may or may not target you for theft

smart move

PS: if you are going there for the event, leave the thing at home. its like people surfing the web when they are on vacation. makes NO sense to me
 
the fact that some religious nutjob speaker can sell out a baseball stadium amazes me. Religion....its been bamboozling people longer then the car salesman.

He's very motivational and tonight's show was no different. Though I was somewhat pissed when the event began and they mentioned that it was being broadcast on their website live. Parking for $15 wasn't that awesome but whatever.

Surprisingly I didn't take my iPad out of its case. I arrived in my seat @ exactly 7pm when the event began and truth be told it was pretty eventful; Osteen spoke for a bit, preaching and singing going on; it was actually pretty entertaining. The event looked sold out though I did see some hardcore religion people, of all ages, raising their hands, taking it all in; which personally I don't understand. Nevertheless I'm not one to judge and appreciated the entire night. However, it did drag on a bit and it really is like his TV show...

Very repetitive indeed, he recycled some themes and jokes that i've seen before in this TV show; though i've personally never seen him on TV, i've only ever seen him through his podcast (which are the very same episodes)

I had fun, but probably would've had more fun at a Dodgers game.

Like I mentioned, I never took it out during the event cause there was really no down time during the show. I was not bored during the event, but I wasn't all into it as if Megan Fox was wearing a schoolgirl outfit where summer school just ended and was headed to the beach to film a sunscreen commercial while the red plaid skirt falls off due to incoming winds from the offshore beach.

(Sorry, bit of a reoccurring fantasy) :eek:

It would have been rude taking it out during the show. It's the same as people playing with electronic gadgets in a movie theatre. It's distracting to those around you. Glad you kept it under wraps, even if I do think Osteen is full of ****.
