Taking the SATA drive from my DVR & putting it in my G5?

Yeah, so I want to take some stuff off of my DVR and get it in my computer. I wonder what would happen if I took the drive out and put it on my G5. Anyone know? It a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300 HD. There's no firewire broard on it. It was either removed or never installed. I believe the external SATA port it disabled as well. Damn these cable companies.

Any thoughts?

Almost certainly the Mac won't be able to read either the formatting or the file format.

However, I am open to being proven wrong. Who has been brave enough to try this?

my SE 8300HD has SATA and 2 firewire ports on it... unfortunately, Finder isn't rececognizing it. Later this evening i may try to dual boot in XP and see if it recognizes it then, save it to my FAT partition, then pull it off in OSX and put it on a DVD. Wish me luck.
