Hi

I used to have a 12.9 IPP and Magic Keyboard combination. I continually struggled with the weight, particularly when trying to use it in bed, for content consumption. Because I am nearsighted, I also found reading difficult and had to move my head quite a bit.

I moved on to the IPP 11, with Magic Keyboard and find that easier to handle. However, I still struggle with the weight, in bed, although much less so, than with the larger iPad.

I thought of using the IPP ‘naked’ when in bed and using the MK as a docking station. How common is that? Do you use the IPP in that way? Would I be better and safer using the IPP with the smart folio that folds back?

I like using the Magic KB in bed, mostly for watching TV. I have been using an iBeani with a cheaper folio case and it never worked that well. Once I added the MKB, I lay it on top of the iBeani and it works perfectly for me.

Get a nice lite case for it because it is an incredibly thin device naked. A case like this:

I’ve only had mine a few hours and that’s how I intend to use it as a replacement for my MacBook Air, right now it’s iPad only as I lie on the settee.

I’ll use the keyboard when typing is required or at desk environment where keyboard and stand is required.

I use the magic keyboard when on the move and when working with the iPad or when I play music from it but when in bed or on the couch I take it off and watch content with just the iPad

except when I can’t sleep I’ll put in in the Magic Keyboard and watch tv like that, placing the iPad next to me in bed Usually makes me fall asleep quickly :)

I thought about getting an iPad Mini for reading in bed. Would you consider getting another device like that?

Yeah I take it off the MK when in bed and just use it naked. It doesn't need any protection as its in bed.

(I can think of many innuendos reading that back)

I’d take the iPad from MK and use it naked in bed with a pillow stand. It’s made of foam, super light, stable and super comfortable. You won’t feel the weight of any tablet. Surprisingly fast shipping too.
