On OS X, the touchpad is perfect. I never accidentally tap click and mouse movements are perfectly smooth. On XP, the tap click is so sensitive that it's virtually unusable, and the touchpad has some responsiveness issues. Is anyone else having these problems, and is there a drivers fix? I'm using a 2.66ghz unibody MacBook Pro if that's relevant.

There is no fix. It's Apple's proprietary trackpad so they have to write the Windows driver for it, and unsurprisingly they made it so that it just barely worked and never bothered to improve it later.
OK, thanks. That was my fear. I feel like Apple intentionally undermines some aspects of Windows to maintain the "Apple experience." If Windows feels just a good as OS X, Apple may lose customers. I can't think of any better explanation because I'm sure it would cost Apple little to improve the drivers.

Windows 7 has a multitouch API, so in theory Apple could make the touchpad work just like it does on OS X, but I have a feeling they won't.
I find using the trackpad in Windows pretty decent (except the oversensitivity to tapping you mentioned), but there's one major annoyance: Normal Windows trackpads are usually disabled while you're typing, to avoid erroneous clicking that edits the text or sends you to the previous page or whatever (it happens sometimes since your thumbs are near the space key, dangerously close to the pad). But Apple's driver doesn't have that functionality. Every time I'm typing in Windows on the MBP something weird happens, I happen to touch the pad lightly and in a split second I've selected the last sentence and when I continue typing it gets replaced with new text.
Mine was super tweaky with the default drivers but when I installed the updated drivers from Apple's website, it got MUCH better (i.e. usable)

It made a HUGE difference for me, under Windows 7 RC anyway.
It tells me the software was not meant for my computer. I would think that means it's already installed, but the wording is strange. Could it be XP SP3?
Those drivers were pulled from Software Update because they was extremely buggy. I'm not sure why they make them available at all.
Yes the drivers worked much better, but they caused a bluescreen on my machine whenever I used the trackpad in Windows, and had other consequences for others.

Found a solution
I couldnt use the trackpad, but my Apple shop showed me where the trackpad control is, not in the ordinary control panel/ hardware profile, but doulble click Bootcamp and there is a tab for the trackpad, disable "tap to click" and it suddenly behaves as it should! Hope this helps
