Finally! That has been a bug bear of mine (ref my previous posts from a year ago).
in iOS 18 beta they initially defaulted so that pressing the name in the 'Recents' will go into the Contacts card, but they also let you call direct by pressing the phone icon next to the name. For some bizarre reason (I guess there was enough people complaining) they removed this feature again after 1 or 2 beta versions.
For this new merged call list can someone confirm whether pressing the phone icon next to the name also takes you to the Contacts card? I hope it lets you call the number direct to save a click
Is this new merged call list optional? If there is an option to revert to the previous 'unmerged list' can someone confirm whether this 'Tap Recents to Call' feature is also available for that please?

Turns out it’s only an option when ‘unified’ listings turned on
ah. ugh. not seeing the benefit of my faves pinned to the top, but nice to not accidentally call someone. thx!
