I have a G4 450 with 2 internal drives. I have hooked it up to a 12" PB via Firewire for Target Disk Mode. However, only the main drive appears on the desktop. Someone told me I can access both internal drives as well as the optical. I don't need the optical.

Does anyone know how to access the second internal drive via Target Disk Mode? btw I am running Panther 10.3.9 on both machines.

If not can I flip the jumpers and make the second drive the master for booting into target disk mode even if it is not the boot drive?

Thanks.

Yes, I saw that. Someone told me I could access both drives, but he may have been wrong. I am also wondering if I can switch me slave and master to and get the other drive to appear alone even if it is not my boot. Will a slave rejumpered as master go into target disk mode if it is not a boot drive? The second drive is my media drive.

It should work, as Target Disk Mode is not handled by an installed OS, rather it's a feature of Open Firmware. I'm not speaking from experience, just (informed) speculation though.

Yeah, it doesn't matter which drive has OSX installed or is bootable but it does matter whether the drive is set to master or slave. Switching it to slave should ensure you can access it with Target Disk Mode. :)
