Tascam US-122mkII interface and I cannot get any response

I have the Tascam US-122mkII interfaces, and I cannot get any response out of it. I am using an iMac with OSX 10.13.5. When I plug the USB into the back it shows up in the Sound menu of Preferences but then disappears. Which means that it cannot be selected in the sound menu.

Any ideas would be really helpful
