Taskbar Notifier/Gmail IMAP incompatible?

I've just set up Gmail IMAP on my iPhone which I had been using the app "Taskbar Notifier" on for a while. Unfortunately, the new mail icon appeared in the taskbar almost immediately after I was done and it won't go away no matter what. There's no number or red icon on the actual mail icon, and I definitely have no unread email anywhere so is this a glitch with the app or maybe even the phone settings?

Did you get this sorted? Mine is the same.
