I still don't know whether to get a new MBP from amazon.com or a refurbished one from apple.
Amazon currently has a 150 $ rebate on the MBP, which would bring the price down to roughly 1850 $
Aplle's refurbished MBP prices 1699 $

I have 3 (maybe stupid) questions:

1) do I get the amazon rebate on my bank account?
2) Apple adds around 120 $ tax (for Rhode island). ?? I am new to the US system, and I dont get it. Amazon seems to calculate no tax... ??
3) Some users on this forum say that on newer MBPs (recent weeks of production) some of the issues (heat, display, etc.) seem to have been resolved. Can anyone confirm this? (if this is true, I would go for the new one at amazon)

Thank you for your replies!

can anybody help me figure out this taxing issue?
can I avoid paying apple's ?
can I expect to pay it on amazon too?

cheers,

pasq.

1) The rebate is usually sent to you in the form of a check. I haven't heard of any place that puts the money into your bank account. That would be nice though.

2) Amazon does not charge tax. That's one thing nice about them. Unless an online store has some presence in your state, you usually don't have to pay tax. I'm guessing apple has a store in RI, so they would charge you tax.

3) Not sure about the MBP issues...
