In front of my MacBook Pro
So, I've been doing some 3D modeling on my MB, and I'm working with a fairly nice sized file (40 Mb), and my MB gets really hot, slows down, I get the beach ball fairly often when modeling, and everything leaves an image of itself where it shouldn't (the line moves with the mouse, but it leaves a trail). I'm using Google SketchUp, so you know. Is my MB's poor little GMA 950 being overtaxed? I'm getting a MBP in about a month with a nice beefy GPU and VRAM, but I'm right to say the MB is being overworked?

Edit: The Mac in ? is a: Stock 2.0 Ghz C2D BlackBook, 1Gb RAM, 120 GB HD.

Not taxing the MB as much as you are that 1GB of RAM, if you were to put 2GB or even replace one of the 512 sticks with 1GB you'd see a noticeable difference. If you think about it you MB doesn't even have a true GB of RAM, because of the shared video, with all processes you are probably starting out with about 600-700MB of free RAM.

I guess you're right, but I won't have this MB much longer. It has been a bridge to the MBP, just so I wouldn't go crazy. I've got a plan for it though, as I'm selling it (to my father) for the last boost and then gettin' the MBP. Because I'll be making the MBP awesome (4 Gb RAM, 250 GB HD) the MB will get the leftovers from the Pro.

what software are you using?

is it a universal binary or powerPC?

it makes a difference.
