I bought the anker usb-c to hdmi, plugged it into my mac studio max rear tb port (where the video out is, and usb-c is still compatible with these ports), but i only get a random flicker of the signal into my monitor. I use a 50' cable and i suspect this is the problem when combined with this adapter. On my 5,1 MP i used a display port to hdmi adapter and the same long cable and it worked. I also use a 50' hdmi straight out of the hdmi port on my studio and it works.

Any other recommendations of adapters to try?

That is a very long run for passive cables. What are the HDMI capabilities of the older MP? The devices might be trying to achieve higher bandwidth with the Mac Studio then the cable can actually transmit. I've seen even short HDMI cables that didn't work with newer devices. One was sent to me by Xfinity with their Flex box. It seems likely that some mystery 50' cable is just not indicating it's actual capabilities correctly. The cable could also be damaged and/or just subject to too much interference.
