TD pos and Apple Pay Canada

not sure if this was brought up before, but I used my Amex Apple Pay in Canada on a TD point of sale machine and it went thru.

Looks like the TD pos supports Apple Pay finally. So Apple Pay might be coming and TD posted on Twitter to check for updates on there web site for Any new mobile payments solutions.

Let's hope.

Wouldn't it working be due to using an Amex card? The only card that works in Canada currently.

Yes, but previously Apple Pay would be denied. I can also confirm it definitely works at Longo's now.

I hope Apple will announce complete compatibility (not only AMEX) for Apple Pay here in Canada tomorrow.

Looks like no Apple Pay in Canada from the major banks.

So what's the point of the iPhone SE in Canada? (I would think the major feature Apple wants everyone to use is the NFC chip, Apple Pay).
