I just bought a mid 2007 20" iMac just to play around with and get back into using a mac. Had i known that it wouldn't be able to upgrade to Mojave i'd would've gotten a new one, didn't really pay attention. Anyway i was wondering if there was anyway to get a new hard drive or upgrade my current? The latest OS i have is EL Capitan, i would like it to be a little faster as well. it won't let me upload a pic of my specs, it has a 2GHz intel core 2 Duo, 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT 128 MB. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thank you!

Yes, El Capitan is the latest macOS version that your device supports. Yes, you can upgrade the drive. A SSD would contribute significantly to improved performance. You can also upgrade your RAM to 6GB.

Your specs: https://everymac.com/systems/apple/imac/specs/imac-core-2-duo-2.0-20-inch-aluminum-specs.html

Internal drive options:https://eshop.macsales.com/upgrades/imac-20-inch-mid-2007-2.0-ghz/internal-drives

perfect, thank you for all your help!
Remember to return to this forum before you open your iMac to replace the hard drive. There are a series of steps to take that would make it a lot easier for you to accomplish the work. For example, cloning the hard drive on the new SSD before removing it from the iMac, mounting brackets you may need, cables, and so on.
