Recently picked up a 16" MacBook Pro and I love it, but I have never loved how MBPs interact with external monitors and even apple wireless keyboard/touchpads. So with them in stock in the refurb store I was thinking of getting an i9/1TB SSD/VEGA 48 to pair with it. Keep things synced on Dropbox. Use the iMac at home and MacBook Pro at work/out of the house.
I am doing a lot of productivity work as well as a good amount of video editing. 2-3 hours a week and 2-3 bigger 20-25 hour projects during the year. Also this would be a tax write-off for my business as well.
1. Do you think this is a good time to buy the iMac? The i9, Vega 48 and a bunch of ram purchased later should future proof the iMac for a while? It would be $2900 for the i9 3.8ghz/1TB SSD/8GB Ram (will buy another 16GB to start) and VEGA 48 GPU.
2. How have your workflows been with an iMac and a MBP?
3. Any other thoughts?
