So, I'm testing this glorious 17 mbp from 2008 for my "office" routine. I've re-thermopasted the beast (which meant practically taking it all apart, sans the screen, a bit painful), cleaned and lubed noisy fans, maxed the ram to 6gb, and put in an SSD. Running ElCap, its last-est official OS with no issues, boot time is phenomenal, shut down time sometimes gives hickups. Love the led-lit glossy screen! Mail and cloud files seem ok, certificates fix took care of the browsers, I use Safari when I can, Opera, Firefox and Chrome, in that order. MS Office works with no issues.
Teams, however, takes 5 minutes to load. After that it actually works without any issues, even with an external HD USB cam. But 5 minutes to load?
Zoom is much quicker to load. Never been a fan of anything microsoft, my guess is that its a clunky written software that is resource hungry, and on newer macs its clunkiness is not as noticeable. And, its a green dot mac, so its video card is ok.

Have you had the chance to browse your system log for background activity which might be occurring while you’re launching Teams?
