How do you find running a teathered jb? How often do you find that you have to reboot your and then re jailbreak your iPhone?

A friend who runs a tethered jb says he doesn't reboot for up to months at a time. He does not do a tremendous amount of moding though.
Re-jailbreak?!? How or why would you do this unless you had restored ?

I never had to do that prior to 3.1.3 (restart or re-jailbreak) except when a new firmware was released.

With 3.1.3 tethering became official with my Carrier (O2 Irl) regardless so now I don't need to jailbreak at all.

my jailbreak is tethered and i dont have a problem with it. I do have quite afew cydias apps, such as winterboard, sbsettings, backgrounder, proswitcher, info lock, iblacklist, ibitesms. I dont know why people get so worked up about it.

For me, tethered is not that big of a deal. While I do have a lot (12+?) Cydia apps, I'm not doing any Cydia installations or deletions when away from my laptop.

I also make sure that I don't do anything that would require a reboot (like reset network settings) when out and just using it as a phone/ipod/game toy.

I use SBSettings 'free memory' option and a respring a good bit instead of a reboot, when memory starts getting low from running too many apps backgrounded.

You don't re-jailbreak. You are just using Redsn0w or Blackra1n to restart the phone.

I'm pretty sure that it does "re-jailbreak" though... Not only is it roughly the same method, but isn't it that the bootloader doesn't boot the altered kernel so the exploit needs to be run again to inject the altered kernel again and jailbreak the phone?

Not 100% on that, but I'm pretty sure that's how it works... Although, what do I know? I have a 3G and we're debating semantics! :)
