So yeah as we all know the plastic iphone knock off is on the front page and I'm actually interested not because of the iPhone connection but because of the fact they are looking to offer a

1.7ghz Quad core SnapDragon 600
2gb ram
16GB storage
4" 1136 x 640
Stock android
8MP back and 2MP Front camera both 1080p
2,300 mAH battery
Bluetooth 4
Wireless Qi Charging (optional extra charger)

For me this is amazing specs - and what a lot of us wanted, a genuinely powerful android device with great processor and ram that isn't quite as big as the rest.

Most amazingly the $199 price !!!! (€155 | £135) OMG!!! I hope they can produce this at this price.

No LTE but we don't have LTE here anyway.

Well I have pre-ordered, how could I not at that price, and with no money being asked up front its safe enough to do so - even if it turns out to be vapourware.

Only thing I don't like is the bear logo.

What are others thoughts ?

Haha I. Saw your comment on the main news story and was shocked you were the first one to bring it up. It takes an "alternatives" forum poster to see that there is another phone mentioned in that story :p

I honestly would be worried about build quality being as its coming from an unheard of company.

The specs themselves are awesome, but a few unknowns would be: screen density, touch responsiveness, image quality of camera, etc

For $199 you can't argue against the proposed value though. If you get one then good luck with it!

Other than the obviously concerns about phone build quality, what impact would using the iPhone's native display resolution have? I have no programming knowledge so please correct me if I'm wrong but don't developers have to code their apps to scale to various resolutions (qHD, 720p, 1080p, etc)? Considering I don't believe there is another single Android device using the same resolution as the iPhone, what impact would that have on apps?

Android scales natively so shouldn't be an issue.

Things would stretch to the next biggest size - As far as games go. Otherwise, holo and basic apps would fit fine.

I have a 3.5" screen, so I should know. If you want an example, I could show you, hahaha.

I would not invest into knockoffs personally.

Not sure how capacitive buttons work on it either with what looks like just one home button in the renderings?

MacRumorUser, can you post a review when you get yours? Thinking of upgrading from a iPhone 3G to the basic or Pro Bear. Finally found a stilish iPhone replacements that are cheap Off -contract.
If the build quality is good I am buying one, most probably the One ripoff.
Thanks!

Fingers crossed! At the second I know that one of those things isn't horrible I will buy it. Or today if I cant wait that long.:p
Only thing that I don't like is that disformed logo. Really? Such good-looking phones with a bear paw that looks like a kid drew it.
Oh well, you cant have it all can you...

Yeah I hope they reconsider putting that on it. For a start its tacky looking, and secondly the logo is exactly the same as the one used for a certain sexual fetish, which is not exactly the message most folks want to give with their phone.

Didnt know that and I still don't want to know. They should change it ASAP, they are not yet known at all so they should just scrap it and change it for something more minimalistic and simple like the brands they copy the design from... And it kind of reminds more of a turkey and not a bear...

And if I get mine I am going to slap one cover on it with the Apple logo or something that they sell, maybe it would have a better finish actually.

In my opinion this is awesome. If anything, this will unite the iPhone user with Android. A lot of people will take a 2nd look at the price and try it out. Given the hardware will be legit and doesn't fall apart as soon as you touch it, but the “what if factor” is worth the 199 for me. I would like to tinker with it. I look forward to reviewing it.

Yeah I'm too scared to tinker with my HTC one, but a $199 device thats mod friendly would encourage me to experiment as the fear of breaking a $600 device is taken out of the piucture.

Yeah I have a home button replacement cover from my Spigen iPhone 5 covers, so should be simple enough to mask it if it does come with it, but like I say I just hope they opt for something less crappy.

I don't have much hope that they will change the logo, unluckily.

And Opstech if that becomes true the internet would be the most peacefull that it ever was. :)

I am dying to get my hands on the Bear Pro though.

Did anyone here order one? I was wondering how the Basic Bear and Bear Pro work since they are in the budget price range, so if anyone here did order one of the two, can you please review it? Thanks.

^ yes I ordered both a Techdy bear and bear one - day 1. I got an email about 3 days ago saying they had suddenly shipped early orders (which I do not believe) and the remaing orders are cancelled but stock will be available from their new online partners on OCTOBER 1st.....

Basically forget it.
