Since I've had my iMac (early January), I've been having problems with it. However, because of school, I was unwilling to take my computer to the Genius Bar until the semester had ended. Anyways, once the iMac was repaired, I was pleased. I looked over the front of the computer (where I figured damage would be) and saw nothing wrong. It's been a little over two months, I believe, and moved my iMac from my desk (where the back faces the wall) to a different table (where the back is visible). Anyways, I just happened to notice a deep scratch on the back and several deep nicks. They're all located along the back edge of the right side (sorry if that's hard to understand). Anyways, I thought it over and I've come to the conclusion that it must've been caused by the tech at Apple because 1. I baby my computer since it's so expensive, 2. whenever I've moved it, I pick it up from the bottom and 3. I've never touched that area of the computer because I haven't had any reason to (it's above the disk drive).

It definitely looks like it was caused by a tool of some sort and someone who wasn't very careful operating it.

Is there anything I can do to have it fixed? Fixed, for real...

Yes, the damage isn't major but it just ticks me off that I spend all this money on something and because it doesn't come fully functional, I have to have it repaired. And when I do, some idiot treats it like trash.

I would go to that apple store and demand a fix. Although, seeing as its been two months I doubt try do anything. Shouldve inspected it upon receiving it.

Yeah, I should've inspected it more carefully but I just didn't think there would be any reason to inspect the spot where it's damaged. I really can't figure out why that of all places would get all messed up and not some place else. That's not even where it comes apart (or so it appears).

I used to work in retail selling Macs, after I saw how some techs treated peoples machines when they came in for repair I was utterly shocked and disgusted. This caused me to become a certified tech so I could complete all repairs to my own Macs without having to deal with any so called "Genius". I'm very sorry about your experience, go back to the shop and kick the tech's in the cashew.....disgraceful

I don't think the OP has a leg to stand on. As far as apple is concerned, it's been two months and anything could have happened in that time. Just my 2 cents.

Agreed, it's been too long. If I was apple and you brought an iMac in saying I damaged it 2 months ago and have to fix it I would probably laugh at you. Always always always inspect your hardware when you get it back that way you can go back day of...

I wish you luck in getting it fixed but I wouldn't hold out much hope.

At least the nicks are on the back of the machine ;) Put the iMac against a wall so the damage is out of sight, out of mind.

What I've learned so far in life is, "The least I can do us ask, the worst thing that i can get is a no" ;)

Sorry but it's too late now. Theres no evidence that they damaged it. You could've even done it yourself when you were bringing it home for all you know.

Sorry
