This is really sad :(

Apple destroying its reseller network over the last 15 years is not good. Someday they might wish they didn't. If Apple were in a position where it had to reduce the stores dramatically....who would sell their products? Killing your distribution network is never smart. So many stores lost out to Apples greed :(

RIP Tekserve, Computer Town, etc...

whoa. I had dealings with that place for about 15 years. It's a shame that Apple chose to build so close to them but the reality is that Tekserve of late had management issues plus they never embraced the internet. they could have established themselves as a major player with that but stuck to their model of individual service. a great option for someone that needs help. but I could repair my own computers and I just needed stuff. putting a person between me and my stuff just took up time. other retailers that also covered the small pro audio/video market, such as B&H, really got the internet thing down. really built up their inventory. and they ended up with most of my business.

but still , sorry to see them go and hope everyone losing their jobs finds a place to land.

I am not near their store, so never used it, but his YouTube videos are terrific. I hope he keeps making those at least.

Too bad … I'd gone there a number of times over the years and found it to be a pretty good place . I'm of the opinion , like one of the commenters in the apple insider thread , that it's the insane NYC rental market that's pushing them out ; not the proximity to an Apple Store . If you're an independent business owner , and your lease is up , and the landlord either won't renew you , or jacks the rent 3 or 5X , then you're out on the street . It's not just Tekserve , it's all over the city .

Not the same store / person.

Though Apple's lawyers have contacted him about his channel.

Louis Rossmann owns Rossmann Repair Group. Tekserve is a different business, but the two are both in the news at the same time for different reasons.

Ahh... thanks for straightening me out. I did see his video yesterday that implies Apple is putting the smackdown on him. It looks like the issue may be his use of Apple's logic board schematics in the videos.
