Tell me I'm hallucinating!

Ok, I'm on my second MBP now. This second one seems good enough for me, found 1 dead pixel, and the button to open the computer squeeks a bit when I open the lid - seems a little too tight. But i am not hysterical about this - as long as the computer functions normally...

Anyway, the thing, I seem to have convinced myself that the fans on the other one I had were completely silent (at 1000-1100 RPM). Now, on this new one, I can hear the humming of the left fan at the same RPM speeds. To be fair, I am sitting in a very quiet environment right now. It isnt loud, but I hear at easily...

But tell me, do your hear your fans at all at these RPM speeds?

(and for all those who are going to call me a pathetic, over-sensitive get-a-life freak, relax, I am not returning it because of this - simply curious!)

I can barely hear my machine at rest, i have to actively listen. However when those babies come on, you know they're on. Its like a 747 preparing for take off.

ZballZ, you're hallucinating!

I can't really speak for the MPB, but my PowerBook is usually a tiny bit audible when just doing regular things. I wouldn't worry about it too much at this stage.

Yes, I can hear my fans are on at 1000 rpm, but I'm also in a very quiet environment (I can hear my neighbour pissing). It's more like a continuous whosh of air than noise.

Just be thankful it doesn't squeal, like mine started doing a couple of days ago after having been turned on for almost a week. It has stopped now, though. I think it's because I let it have a break last night.
