Anyone else experiencing CPU temperature drops in Yosemite? My 07 MBP (known for being heat monsters) is running, on average, 20-25F cooler than before at idle.

This is compared to 10.8 & 10.9 clean install, after indexing and all that.

11'' MBP here , on mavericks my fans were full speed almost 70% of the time , now i hear them a lot less !

Nothing scientific to add, but every so often I will lay back with my MBP Retina in my lap. Always very hot. Ever since Yosemite, it is NOTICEABLY cooler.

Exact opposite problem, I find it runs far hotter. I'm thinking of reverting back to 10.9, but it's a hard choice because this is the first os version I've found that will successfully stay connected to my VPN for longer than 50min.

Not to be nitpicky, but 10 degrees C is 50 degrees F. That's a substantial difference!

It doesn't work like that though. 100 C = 212 F, but 90 C = 194 F. A difference of 1 C is equivelant to a difference of about 1.8 F. It's a relative scale.

I'm actually so glad I don't have to work in fahrenheit:D

DP2 is running hotter than DP1 for me. Much hotter! Although this may just be an isolated issue

Some people are finding that UserEventAgent eats up a lot of CPU time in Yosemite. For any beta release I recommend enabling the CPU indicator in Activity Monitor, and if you notice any high usage then you can take a look in Activity Monitor to see if there's a culprit that's eating up CPU and getting stuck (i.e - an infinite loop); if you do, then profile it and send the report to bugreport.apple.com then use Activity Monitor to quit or force quit the process (anything system related should just start up again as required anyway, and hopefully behave itself).

While it's great that Yosemite may have further power/heat improvements, it's hard to put stock in it just yet; especially when Apple hasn't mentioned anything (you'd think they would have done). But any worse battery life is likely the result of a bug, so get it tracked down so it can be fixed ;)
