Okay, another strange one:

My left USB port doesn't recognize my USB external HD when I plug it in. However, it recognizes every other USB device I have. There are no issues with the right USB (everything read just fine).

What could be causing this? The external HD works perfectly fine in any other USB port (Mac or PC) except for the left-hand side on my MBP. Weird, no?

Any thoughts? Someone was telling me that System Profiler could help with this, but I'm not sure how.

Thanks.

Have you ever zapped the USB port with static? I have a headset that I accidently zapped when plugging it in. Now it will only work on certain ports on my iMac.

1. Every other USB device works just fine on the port though.
2. It's only in OS X. The headset works just fine on any port in Windows XP.
