I know i could probably do a search to find the answer to this question but it is a two-parter and also i finally decided to register to the forum instead of just browsing it.

My question: What is an approx. temp my new macbook pro C2D should be running at and also what should the fan speed be at. Also, is it necessary (or recommended) to run a status program like istatnano widget or does that just use up cpu.

Temp when your just forum browsing for me is around mid 50's. When doing cpu intensive stuff such as watching hi-def video it hits 70 easy.

Normal fan is around 2000rpm. Full or hi speed would be over 5000rpm.

It's cool when you bring you MBP in from the car or some reason it's been outside (and off) and you fire it up and the CPU temp is like 10c.

I've never had any flakey behavior from the high temps, just the bottom gets really really hot.
