Hi,

I've been reading a couple of threads regarding temperature and thermal paste. What do you use to tell if the temperature too high? Is there a utility I can use?

I reckon my Mac Pro's CPUs could with a thermal paste change, I doubt is has been changed since new.

I'm also wondering about GPUs, how can you tell if they are overheating?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

All the Best
Dave

I use the open source program, Stats for all sorts of info in the menu bar, including sensor data for temperatures

On my Mac Pro 3.1 (2008) if I use too small amount of thermal grease I see that it is about 65 Celsius degrees at IDLE and about 98 at 100% load. This is too high.
Normally I see about 52-57 degrees at IDLE and about 89 at 100% load.
