Hi guys,

ever since I got my C2D Macbook I waited for Vista to install a Windows version natively via Boot Camp. Now that I've installed Vista, I have to say that I'm really positively surprized - the install was absolutely flawless and using the Boot Camp driver CD I got most things to work, mainly W-LAN and sound (though it's stuttering a bit).

What I'm wondering is how the temperature and fan control works when running Windows natively. Is it driven by Windows or by some underlying macbook hardware part? My macbook is really silent under Vista and the fan only starts working under quite heavy load. I'm just worried if my macbook can't overheat under Windows...

Does anyone have an idea?
Thanks.

Good question, I'm also eager for an answer.

I've run XP through boot camp for 6 months now, and since the firmware update that fixed the random shutdowns the fans have kicked in as soon as I started gaming. Based on this I don't think you should worry about overheating.

Hm, this might imply that the fan is controlled by the firmware and not on operating system level. That would of course be good, but I'm not too sure about that. On my old Windows notebook the fan seemed to be controlled by software and its speed could even be freely adjusted using a tool called Notebook Hardware Control...

Anyone has some definitive knowledge?
