Just upgraded to the 11 Pro after having the X for 2.5 years. One of the reasons I upgraded was my X’s screen had some annoying scratches on it, along with the apparently unavoidable “micro scratches”, at least on the X and higher models.

So, after using an iPhone for 13 years (yes since the first one) without a screen protector while always putting them in my front left pants pocket with nothing else ever in the pocket with them, I got one for my new 11 Pro. And.....I hate it!

I got a Tethys from Amazon. Very highly rated and reviewed. Very easy to install, looks great, feels great. But the touch sensitivity is terrible! Typing is the worst. I am missing every 3rd or 4th letter that I type. I also feel like random taps on links in Safari, for example, are not accurate and I have to tap a couple of times to get them.

Is this par for the course with glass screen protectors or do I have a bad version/mis-installed version? If this is how typing with tempered glass screen protectors is for everyone I would think no one would ever get them!

I've not bad that problem with my Caudabe or iCarez display protectors. I also have an 11 Pro. I do think the Caudabe is maybe a tiny bit thicker than the iCarez one i had before. Sometimes the sensitivity seems a little bit less than it was. It's kind of a fleeting impression, though. I like the Caudabe because it's been very clear and sturdy and scratch resistant and it went on easily.

I shouldn't be, maybe a slight manufacturing issue? Did you get more than one? If so, remove and try another - I mean, I hate to suggest being wasteful, but if it's not working as expected ...

FWIW, I've been using these, they're thinner than many of the other glass protectors (0.25mm vs. 0.33), fairly inexpensive, 3-pack for $13.95, and it includes a really helpful alignment / install frame:

Yep, I actually ordered a Maxboost 3 pack since it was Wirecutter’s recommendation. So, we will see those are. I kind of liked the style that covers the whole screen instead of having the notch cut out, which Maxboost does.

I will try your advice about trying another one from the 3 pack. There’s like 20,000 reviews for the Tethys with most of them being 5 stars, so I don’t know how so many people can be satisfied with a product that performs like this.

So has anyone else had the experience of going without a screen protector like this for years and then when they try one feel like the touch sensitivity is terrible? Maybe I’m just expecting too much?

Funny enough, my X was starting to get a little sketchy with touch responsiveness, I had a plastic screen protector that was about as old as the phone (X bought new), and when I got these protectors for the wife's new 11 Pro for Christmas, I decided to use one (mine was a touch hazy / beatup too). Completely resolved my touch issue! :D

I mean, I'm kind of sensitive to touch response/accuracy, I'm a dev, so I'm often testing the UX, and at least these MaxBoost don't seem any different vs. the devices actual display (including the "feel").

Well, good luck! Let us know how it goes.

Ok, so got the Maxboost. It’s soooo much better than the Tethys! Touch sensitivity is great, no issues. No rough edge along the bottom scratching my finger when I swipe up to unlock (I have a Apple Leather case). The only thing I wished is that it spread all the way to the edges of the screen and covered the notch.

So I have an iCarez on order, a full screen version to see if I like it better. But the Maxboost is very nice, natural feeling, screen looks great, no bubbles and great sensitivity.
