Why does Quark 7 produce so many extraneous/temporary files? The majority are CHMOD 740 files (whatever they are) and many are several Mb in size. Very often, if I create a PDF of a Quark file and then immediately afterwards save the Quark file, with the Finder window showing files in order of the date modified, there could be 10 or 15 files listed between the PDF and the Quark file at the top of the list (all created within seconds of each other!). They don't disappear once Quark is shut down either, like temporary InDesign files seem to. Can this be stopped?

Yes. Try using Adobe InDesign.

I do!! Although it's my steed of choice, InDesign is RIDDLED with bugs under Leopard (won't hide, won't open some documents without a force quit, locks all features requiring a force quit...). And as much as I hate Quark 7, I sometimes have to use it as a matter of course. Bring back the good old days of OS9 and Quark 4.1 - it was all so much simpler back then...

<using sarcasm, but you know what I mean...>
